At Stubbys we recommend annual chimney sweeping for most domestic houses. This ensures your home is kept free from hazards such as leaking smoke and carbon monoxide.
Sweeping
We sweep a range of log burners and open fires, we use a mixture of rods and brushes with both manual and power sweeping. Which method we use largely depends on the age of the property. All we need is a power source, and we bring all other equipment including sheets to cover furniture so there is no mess. We can also sweep Agas, Rayburns, Oil Burners and Inglenooks. These sweeps are more specialised so we will need to ask you a few more questions to ensure we know what we are dealing with and how best we can help you. These sweep can also take a bit longer. An electronic certificate is issued with all sweeps.

Maintenance
Stoves will experience wear and tear so to keep your stove or fireplace in top condition and working to its best potential and efficiency repairs and part replacement may be necessary, including rope seals, fire bricks, glass or baffle plates. We work with many stove manufactures and can source most parts needed.
Birds Nest Removal
Debris falling down is the first sign of a nest, depending on the size of the nest this can be time consuming job, but we will continue to sweep until all twigs and aspects of the nest have been removed. After this service you may want to think about having something fitted to the top of your chimney to prevent this from happening again. We can only sweep a dormant nest in accordance with the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981.

To protect the top of chimney from debris predominantly birds nesting we supply and fit different types of caps and cowls to suit your chimney needs ensuring there is the correct airflow for your fire.

Camera Survey
These inspections can be carried out if there are problems such as a blockage with your chimney flue. We have a high resolution camera and can offer both picture and written reports if required. We also provide smoke tests these can be carried after a sweep to ensure any issues have been resolved and the chimney is in good working order.
